The James Brand is constantly pushing the envelope on what they can achieve with their lineup of modern pocket knives and everyday carry gear. The Barnes is the latest chapter in their ongoing quest to put out some of the best, most uniquely designed pocket knives out there. The Barnes is a titanium framelock knife with an integral design – meaning the entire handle is machined from a single piece of metal. In this case, it’s a solid billet of 6AL4V titanium. An integral design means that the entire body is a single piece of metal, which can only be achieved through highly advanced CNC machining techniques. The result is a sleek and solid design that feels great in your hand.
The blade itself measures in at 3.5” and features a straight cutting edge. It’s crafted from Bohler M390, a metal commonly referred to as a “super steel” because of its ideal properties for sharpness and durability. With a flick of your finger on the thumb stud, the knife glides open on ceramic bearings and a stainless steel pivot. It locks in place thanks to the titanium frame lock and will last for years to come thanks to the hardened steel insert that protects the locking parts from wearing prematurely. The Barnes ships in a premium gift box that features a CNC’d wood insert, polishing cloth, and a collectible coin.
