The James Brand does not shy away from the fact that they are singularly focused on creating products with no superfluous features. If it needs to be there, it is. If it doesn’t need to be there, it isn’t. Among the knives in the collection, the Folsom embodies the principles of the firm: it’s a solid liner lock that just works as a general purpose knife for the EDC-minded – or anyone, really.
The current Folsom is the brand’s thinnest design yet, and though it looks simple, it accomplishes its purpose with exacting precision. The straight blade is made of VG-10 steel and takes the form of a classic drop point shape. Blade thickness is 0.11” (2.7mm), and blade length is 2.75”, or 7 cm. The handle is made of G10 Micarta and has a fine grain texture for significant gripping power.
The Folsom uses a liner lock for reliability and also features a reversible pocket clip. Further, it has an ambidextrous blade opening slot and is designed for ergonomics and thinness. As a whole, this knife is meant to be a simple, straightforward tool that always gets the job done and stays out of the way in the meantime.
